Samantha Sofyan - Provisional Psychologist (Hornsby)
Sam is a Provisional Psychologist who is completing the final stage of her provisional pathway and is on track to obtain general registration as a psychologist in September 2026.
Sam works with children from 10 years of age, adolescents and adults, supporting people experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, sleep difficulties, school-related challenges, relationship difficulties and periods of adjustment or change.
Warm, approachable and collaborative, Sam focuses on creating an environment where clients feel comfortable talking openly about what is happening in their lives. She works alongside clients to better understand the patterns contributing to their difficulties and to develop practical strategies that can support meaningful and sustainable change.
Sam uses evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based approaches, positive psychology-informed strategies and psychoeducation. Her approach is flexible and tailored to the individual, taking into account each client’s age, circumstances, background and therapeutic goals.
Sam has a particular interest in working with children and adolescents experiencing anxiety, emotional and behavioural difficulties, low confidence, peer and school-related challenges, as well as neurodevelopmental concerns including ADHD and Autism.
She also has experience in psychometric and psychological assessment, working to help children, adults and families better understand cognitive functioning, learning, attention and psychological wellbeing. Sam enjoys using the assessment process to provide greater clarity around an individual’s strengths and difficulties and to assist with practical recommendations for home, school and everyday life.
