Dorothy Kwong - Volunteer (Drummoyne)
Dorothy is a warm and thoughtful volunteer with the Kalm Kingdom school program, with a heart for encouraging young people to reach their full potential. She has experience working with children of diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
Dorothy is currently working toward provisional registration as a psychologist. She is especially passionate about working with neurodiverse children and adolescents. Dorothy is committed to helping neurodiverse children develop habits and skills to navigate their daily lives, discover their passions, and cultivate personal aspirations. In particular, she has a deep interest in the intersection of culture and mental health, and is interested in working with children and adolescents of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Dorothy is also interested in working with individuals affected by anxiety disorders and interpersonal difficulties.
Dorothy looks forward to exploring and developing further expertise in various therapeutic modalities centred on mindfulness and holistic approaches to mental health such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). She looks forward to developing her skills in these areas.
Dorothy takes a collaborative, compassionate, and client-centred approach, and is strongly committed to cultivating therapeutic relationships where clients can express their thoughts and feelings authentically and comfortably. She has a strong interest in the field of Clinical Psychology and plans to pursue an Area of Practice Endorsement (AoPE) in this area in the future.
