Role Highlights
- Summary – We are looking for a dedicated Provisional Psychologist to provide support for clients and staff within a community-based recruitment environment. The role includes crisis intervention, coaching, and mental health support through individual sessions and group facilitation. You’ll be assisting clients with mental health challenges, particularly job seekers and employees, with a focus on vocational and in-employment counselling.
- Location – Deployed @ client site (Burwood & Chatswood)
- Hours – 9am-5pm, 2 Days a week
- Role type – Fixed term permanent employee @ Health Services Award rate
Role Responsibilities
- Crisis/Urgent appointments – Provide immediate mental health interventions for clients experiencing significant mental health declines when GP or other services are not readily available.
- General appointments – Deliver evidence-based therapy for upto 3 sessions per client issue, with the potential for further sessions after review.
- Pre-Employment coaching – Assist clients with career planning, goal setting, and developing mental resilience as they prepare for employment.
- In-Employment coaching – Help employees tackle work-related challenges, build emotional resilience, and manage workplace conflict.
- Job Seeker support groups – Facilitate group sessions on topics such as managing anxiety, building resilience, and setting realistic goals.
- Mental health resources review– Guide clients through anxiety and resilience-building worksheets, CBT tools, and goal-setting strategies.
- Employee debrief & check-Ins – Conduct weekly or on-demand check-ins with internal staff to discuss mental health status and address any concerns.

Qualifications & Requirements:
- Completed at least 1 year of placement in Australia as part of a Provisional Psychologist program.
- A keen interest in working with job seekers and employees in a wellness capacity, supporting mental health in a community-based setting.
- Ability to manage crisis situations and provide rapid interventions.
- Strong interpersonal and rapport-building skills in a client-facing environment.
- Experience conducting both individual and group sessions, with a focus on vocational and workplace-related mental health support.
