Catherine Yew - Registered Psychologist (Hornsby)
Catherine is a Registered Psychologist at our Hornsby Psychology Clinic and a board-approved supervisor. She is committed to providing therapy that is practical, responsive, and tailored to each client’s individual needs. Catherine works with adults, adolescents, and children from diverse cultural backgrounds, supporting clients through a wide range of psychological and life challenges. Her areas of interest include anxiety, depression, stress and burnout, adjustment difficulties, grief and loss, trauma and PTSD, panic attacks, phobias, self–esteem and self–development, and women’s issues.
Catherine has a strong interest in working with children, adolescents, and teenagers, supporting concerns such as ADHD, school–related difficulties, bullying, peer and social relationship challenges, shyness, emotional regulation, anger management, and self-harm. She also works with individuals navigating communication difficulties, conflict resolution, assertiveness, coping skills, and relapse prevention, including those experiencing complex presentations such as Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). Across all ages, Catherine aims to provide a safe, supportive, and culturally sensitive space where clients can develop practical skills, strengthen resilience, and move towards meaningful change.
Catherine delivers evidence-based therapy using approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution–Focused Therapy (SFT), mindfulness–based interventions, and Motivational Interviewing (MI). She also has experience conducting psychological assessments for behavioural, cognitive, and intellectual functioning in both children and adults, using tools including the WISC-V, WAIS-IV, and WIAT-III. These assessments help inform tailored intervention and learning plans and may support applications for educational adjustments or funding.
Outside of work, Catherine enjoys exploring new places and sharing good food with friends and family on the weekends.
