Megan Lewis - Provisional Psychologist (Macquarie)
Meg is a Provisional Psychologist registered with AHPRA in our Macquarie Psychology Clinic and Registered Play Therapist with the Australasian Play Therapy Association (APPTA), bringing over 20 years of professional experience working with children, young people, and families across specialised services in child protection, out-of-home care, family relationships, and family law.
With more than five years of direct therapeutic experience as a Play Therapist, Meg works with children and young people from diverse populations experiencing mental, behavioural, and emotional health challenges arising from exposure to domestic violence, alcohol and other drug use, grief and loss, childhood neglect, abuse, and trauma. Megan has a particular interest and expertise in supporting children, young people, and their families where intergenerational trauma is present.
Megan works within a trauma-informed and person-centred framework, and firmly believes that the therapeutic relationship is the cornerstone of meaningful progress in therapy. Her warm, friendly, and approachable manner is central to her practice, enabling her to create a safe and supportive space where children and families feel genuinely heard and understood.
“I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is the most powerful vehicle for change. My goal is to ensure every child and family who walks through the door feels safe, seen, and supported.”
Megan is a trained companion and experienced facilitator of Seasons for Growth, an evidence-based eight-session grief and loss program for children and young people.
Megan holds a Master of Mental Health Science (Child Psychotherapy) and has completed the Graduate Diploma in Psychology Advanced at Monash University.
She is currently enrolled in the Master of Professional Psychology at Macquarie University, where she is completing the study and supervised practice requirements towards general registration as a Psychologist.
